  • The IHPS provides the Soldier with multiple levels of ballistic protection that is tailorable to mission profiles and protection against specific threats ranging from fragmenting munitions, small arms fire, and blunt impact. The versatility of the system enables the Soldier to quickly transition from one mission type to another without degrading the momentum of small unit operations. The IHPS protects Soldiers across the range of military operations including major combat operations, stability operations, homeland security operations, joint operating concepts, and the joint force functional concept
  • The head protection ensemble shall consist of a Modular Helmet (MH), MH cover, MH suspension system, MH retention system, Neck Armor Protection Enhancement (NAPE) pad, Night Vision Device (NVD) bracket assembly, Maxillofacial Protection system (ballistic mandible and visor assemblies), Ballistic Applique, and hearing protection.
