Off the shelf Cables

The U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center has a requirement for a five-year procurement of specific off-the-shelf cabling to support data acquisition needs during ballistics testing operations at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.

Solicitation Description

Summary: The U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center, 400 Colleran Road, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 21005, is requesting pricing for specific off the shelf cable for a 5 year contract to purchase and deliver the cable and lengths specified below.

Background: The U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center (ATC), a subordinate command to the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command, is the Defense Department s agency for ballistics testing. The Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) requires a specific cable to be used for data acquisition purposes. The cable that is required meets our desired frequency response. The cable must be made by the manufacturer listed and substitutions are not permitted. Substitutions are not permitted as the physical and electrical specifications of the cable have been chosen to meet the desired frequency response and triboelectric properties needed to perform Live Fire Test and Evaluation. Deviation from these properties can degrade data and cause electrical artifacts that can be misconstrued as applicable data under test.

Information Requested: The Government will evaluate market information to ascertain potential market capacity to support the pricing and quantity. Information on availability and form factors is requested as listed below. The length of product availability is also important to this RFI as follow-on contracting actions will require items be available for a multi-year period. Cabling may be purchased in large orders so on hand stock is requested to ascertain if a vendor may meet the purchasing requirements. Please provide information if the following four (4) cables can be provided in the approximate quantity and form factor as listed:

Omega temperature cable: 50,000 feet per year -Multipair extension cable -Manufacturer part # 4KX20PPSH -Yellow polyvinyl jacket, 4 pair cable 20AWG -1000 feet per spool

Belden computer cable: 150,000 feet per year -Computer EIA RS-232/422 Cable – Manufacturer part # 8104 0601000 -Grey PVC jacket, 4 pair twisted cable, 24 AWG stranded -1000 feet per spool

Belden audio control cable: 10,000 feet per year – Multipair extension cable – Manufacturer part # 9873 060 – Grey PVC jacket, 3 pair twisted cable, 20 AWG stranded -500 feet per spool

If all four cable types cannot be supplied, please do not respond to this RFI as all cables are required.

Expected responses: Please reply with information addressing the requirements by providing information about the above-mentioned cables. Expected responses should provide information in the affirmative if all cables and the lengths/models can be provided.

Response must also address at a minimum the following items:

1.) Has your company provided cable purchasing services in the past?

2.) Will your company be able to provide the requested cables for up to 5 years at a time?

3.) What is the lead time on the requested cables?

4.) Are there minimum or maximum purchase requirements for any of the above products?
