Requirements

  • The project will construct four (4) Type D Earth Covered Magazines, a Forklift charging station, an Ammunition Rework and Overhaul Shop (AROS), a new Spanish-Owned Recycling Center, and Incidental related work at Naval Station Rota.
  • Magazine construction will comprise foundations, walls, reinforced concrete floors, entrance and loading aprons, with ordnance bonding, grounding and lightning protection systems, intrusion detection systems (IDS) and earth-covering. Concrete area will be required in front of the Earth Covered Magazine for handling, staging, inspection, loading and offloading ordnance.
  • The construction of a new Spanish-Owned low0rise-open-air Recycling Center to replace the existing Spanish=owned Recycling Center (Building #2203) impacted by the Explosive Safety Quantity Distance (ESQD) arcs associated with the proposed magazines will comprise cast-in-place concrete walls and slab-on-grade floors supporting standing seam metal roofing.
