Background

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has two (2) existing Parking Garages at its Research Triangle Park (RTP) Campus. The Parking Structures were constructed in the 1999-2001 timeframe. Exhibit 1 outlines the general layout of the Parking Structures on the RTP Campus. Both Parking Garages have sustained degradation and weathering over the past 20 years. These structures have had two Condition Surveys performed, one in 2010, and one in 2017. These surveys provided extensive listings of observed issues including but not limited to concrete spalling, cracks, deteriorated joints, corrosion, ponding water, settlement and displacement, and degredation of support systems. To address all these issues and improve on the performance and sustainability of these structures, the EPA hired McElhiney Architects to develop and provide a design package for the restoration work which includes plans and specifications which will be used for this construction restoration and repair contract.

Requirements

  • Construction services to be performed by a licensed general contractor who is specialized in parking structure restoration and repairs.
