Requirements

Project Scope:

  • This project will replace the existing water treatment plant (WTP), constructed in the 1970s. The existing WTP cannot reliably provide treated water to the area served. Several maintenance issues were noted including difficulty in repairing/replacing aging appurtenances, non-functional automatic controls, and water leaks. The water treatment plant is located north of the Buckhorn campground and services the campground, boat ramp, and pavilion as well as the Point boat ramp and campground via a pipe crossing underneath the lake
  • The plant was designed to produce 25,000 gallons per day (gpd) of potable water. The current need is 43,000 gallons per day (gpd). Water from the County jurisdiction is purchased at various times to supplement water needs in the campgrounds, which has increased overall utility costs. Replacing the plant will greatly reduce these costs associated with manual operation, loss of water during certain processes, and purchases of water from outside sources when the plant is not able to meet water demands
  • The existing water treatment plant equipment will be removed and disposed of. The existing building will be retained and used for storage by park maintenance staff. A new building will be built along the existing road just to the northeast of the current water treatment plant. Replace old water storage tank with new one similar to second storage, glass coated, bolted steel tank on site. Tree removal and minor grading will be required at the new building site
  • A new maintenance building to replace the Welding Shop, Carpentry Shop, and Storage buildings. The new maintenance building is anticipated to be approximately 3,500 sf high-bay steel frame metal building with a high strength concrete slab floor. Limited windows are anticipated to provide natural daylighting, while avoiding excessive heat buildup from sunlight.
    Roll up doors sized for Wildland Fire Vehicles, Maintenance vehicles and delivery, and custodial supply storage functions. A 20-foot concrete apron at the front of the building with a shade canopy to facilitate exterior work. The clear height is to be 15’ minimum to the bottom of the shade canopy structure. Interior walls are to be finished in light paint for reflectivity. Sanitary sewer lift stations sized to serve the new maintenance building and existing buildings with sanitary system in the lower west end of the maintenance area
