Background

The U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center (ATC), Aberdeen Proving Ground has a continuing need for scientific and routine engineering support for the development of instrumentation systems and test facilities. Due to the test mission and staff constraints at ATC, the development and fabrication of instrumentation and test facilities with in-house government employees is not feasible and these services have been historically been provided by contractors. ATC must rely on contractor efforts for the fabrication and development of instrumentation and test facilities. This needs to be of a quick response nature to provide instrumentation without costly delays to high priority test programs.

Requirements

  • Study and develop quantitative requirements, on a quick reaction basis for test facilities and instrumentation systems
  • Conduct concept studies concerning new instrumentation techniques
  • Conduct engineering design of specific test equipment and instrumentation systems, including fabrication and/or preparation of performance specifications to be used as a basis for procurement actions
  • Study and develop test and measurement techniques as related to specific materiel items or commodity classes
  • Fabricate mechanical equipment from Government sketches and drawings to support instrumentation and data acquisition
  • Fabricate and install mechanical equipment-in-place from Government sketches and drawings
  • Fabricate electronic systems from Government sketches and drawings
  • Design, implement, and verify embedded engineering software incidental to the development of electronic systems
  • Design, debug and implement software utilizing C, C++, Java, Visual Basic and Lab View in support of instrument control and data acquisition, analysis and presentation
  • Knowledge of Windows 8, 7, Vista, XP, Windows NT and UNIX are required
  • Additionally database management and SQL experience is required
  • Manufacture electronic and mechanical instrumentation in quantity based on detailed specifications and drawings
