Background

The JTNC was established in San Diego, California via a formal Acquisition Decision Memorandum (ADM) and Charter signed by the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (USD, A&S) on 20 January 2014, and revalidated on 20 March 2024. The JTNC facilitates interoperable, secure, and resilient Joint tactical communications via Core Function activities that include:

  • Develops and maintains a cyber-hardened DoD Information Repository (IR)
  • Provides Technical Analyses/Capability Characterizations on Tactical Communications Products to include exportability analysis and licensing reviews.
  • Provides Open Systems Architecture Standards
  • Serves as Technical Advisor to the Communications, Command, and Control Leadership Board (C3LB) and Tactical Communications Senior Steering Group (TCSSG)
