Requirements

  • Keeping pace with the rapid progression of advanced material and process applications in modern systems requires a focused initiative for the development and deployment of advanced manufacturing techniques.  The Department of Defense (DoD) is continually seeking to transform to more cost-effective, sustainable and maintainable use of high performance materials and manufacturing techniques to further improve readiness through increased system availability and performance.  There is a need for technical and management capabilities that can help conserve scarce funding through savings that would otherwise be lost through inefficient machining and manufacturing operations—or lost to non-U.S. operations.
  • Identifying technical and management opportunities, implementing the solutions, and transferring those solutions to the Defense Industrial Base is a needed function.  Additionally, advanced manufacturing systems require a new and uniquely trained labor pool that has a broader understanding of materials, processes, tooling, and machine computer control systems.
  • Tasks presented in this PWS include:
    • Program Management
    • DoD Manufacturing Project Implementation
    • Industry Training and Outreach
